Cairo, Amna bint Ahmed Al Romaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning, participated in the 89th meeting of the Executive Bureau of the Arab Ministers of Housing and Urban Development Council, held today at the Arab League headquarters in Egypt. The minister highlighted Bahrain's commitment to supporting joint efforts with Arab countries in implementing the Arab Housing and Urban Development Strategy, aligned with the Kingdom's efforts to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 11 on making cities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. She noted Bahrain's progress in social housing, which has earned international recognition, which reflects the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The minister underscored the growing trend in the region to involve the private sector in social housing services. Bahrain's innovative partnership initiati ves, such as housing financing and land development programmes, were presented as successful models that reduced waiting times for Bahraini families. The meeting also reviewed Bahrain's efforts in hosting the Arab Housing Ministers Council's website and discussed updates on cooperation with the UN-Habitat programme, regional partnerships, and preparations for Arab Housing Day. All items on the meeting's agenda were approved, paving the way for the upcoming meeting of Arab Housing Ministers in Algeria in December. Source: Bahrain News Agency
