The Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, arrived at Zurbatiya border crossing in Wasit to see the port's readiness to receive foreign arrivals to commemorate Ashura and Arbaeen pilgrimages. Al-Shammari said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): 'We have doubled the number of members and the number of entry visa booths, with the aim of achieving a high flow of foreign visitors coming to the country to perform Ashura and Arbaeen visits.' It is noteworthy that Zurbatiya border crossing is located 90 km east of the city of Kut, the center of Wasit Governorate, and connects Iraq to the Islamic Republic of Iran and receives approximately three million foreign visitors during Arbaeen visit.
