Manama, General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, the Interior Minister, received Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, the British Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, South Asia, United Nations and the Commonwealth. Lieutenant General Tariq Al Hassan, Chief of Public Security, Shaikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, the Interior Ministry Undersecretary, and Alastair Long, the British Ambassador to Bahrain, were present. The minister highlighted the approach of Bahrain that is based on peace, openness, and humanitarian initiatives supported by the royal vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty the King, has achieved a turning point in reinforcing justice and human rights, which has contributed to further strengthening social cohesion, the minister said. He highlighted the human rights and social accomplishm ents of the alternative sanctions project and the open prisons programmes, which come within the framework of the Interior Ministry's security and social initiatives and programmes to promote community security. The minister lauded the historical ties and robust partnership between Bahrain and the United Kingdom, highlighting the mutual commitment to continually develop them.
