The Ministry of Interior announced the killing of a drug dealer and the injury of another one in a security operation in Diwaniyah Governorate. The Interior Ministry said in a statement: "A clash took place with two major drug dealers in Diwaniyah, after setting up an ambush for them in the eastern Hamza area at dawn today, Wednesday, based on accurate intelligence information through information gathering, tracking and investigation." It added: "One of the wanted persons was killed, after an exchange of fire with the security forces, and the other was injured, and the search and investigation process is still ongoing, after he fled. The security force carrying out the operation seized weapons used by the drug dealers." She pointed out: "The operation also resulted in the director of drug affairs in the governorate sustaining moderate injuries, and he was transferred to the hospital, and his health condition is stable."
