Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) has urged the member countries and the entire world to promote the role of museums in education and scientific research, in addition to engaging young people and students worldwide in preserving heritage and encouraging innovation, stemming from the vital role museums play in the history of humanity. In a statement on Friday to mark the International Museum Day, ICESCO underscored its commitment to supporting museums all over the world and reinforcing their role as hubs for education and awareness through providing technical support and essential expertise to train those who work in this field, in addition to encouraging collaboration among museums and sharing knowledge so as to dedicate their role to achieving the sustainable development and preserving the cultural patrimony of the countries of the Islamic world. The Rabat-based ICESCO pointed out that it has provided several initiatives in the field of museums, such as the publicati on of the "Museums of African Region" in 2021, in addition to hosting the International Exhibition and Museum of the Prophets Seerah and Islamic Civilization in its headquarters since 2022, and issuing a guide on the protection and valorization of museum exhibits in the Islamic world in 2023.
