Iran Protests Australian Foreign Minister’s Interference in Internal Affairs

Iran's Foreign Ministry summoned the Australian charge d'affaires to Tehran on Thursday to protest remarks by Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong.

The Australian diplomat received strong objections from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the "interventionist remarks" by the foreign minister as well as the newly imposed sanctions, state-run news agency (IRNA) reported.

The relations between Iran and Australia have been tense recently due to differing views on a number of bilateral and international issues.
