Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed, in a phone call Monday, with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the developments in the Palestinian territories and ways to stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. They also discussed ways to improve relations between Tehran and Berlin in various fields. Iranian news agency (IRNA) reported that Pezeshkian stressed, during the call, Iran's aspiration to develop its relations with all European countries, including Germany, on the basis of friendship, trust and mutual respect. He noted that the peoples of the world expect European countries, especially Germany, to take an effective role in stopping the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. For his part, the German Chancellor emphasized his country's interest in improving its relations with Iran in all fields, and stressed the need for an immediate end to the war on the Gaza Strip. A German government spokesman said that Scholz called for working to spare the Middle East region further military escalation, imp lementing a ceasefire agreement and releasing hostages and detainees.
