Iraq and Turkey discuss preventing illegal immigration and extraditing and returning convicts

Baghdad, The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Relations and Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Omar Al-Barzinji, and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of the Iraqi Ambassador to Ankara, Majid Al-Lajmawi, held a meeting with the Undersecretary of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Yassin Akram Sirm. The meeting, according to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, discussed strengthening and developing bilateral relations, and ways to advance them to what meets the aspirations of the two friendly peoples, and discussed facilitating the procedures for granting entry visas (visas) to citizens of the two countries. The two sides stressed the need for joint cooperation to prevent illegal immigration, extradite and return convicts, transfer convicts to serve their sentences in their country, and discuss consular affairs, security, Anti-terrorism, and judicial cooperation. Al-Barzanji stressed: "These steps will strengthen and develop relat ions in the future," noting the need to invest in the great openness in relations between the two countries, and implement the agreements and memoranda of understanding concluded during the visit of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Baghdad last April.
