Doha: Iraq’s Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein called on the United States to reconsider its travel warnings regarding Iraq, emphasizing that improved security conditions in the country have made it more attractive to foreign investors.
According to Qatar News Agency, during a meeting with his U.S. counterpart Marco Rubio, Hussein said that the security situation in Iraq is stable and has become an additional incentive for foreign investment. He noted that some European countries have already revised their security assessments of Iraq, acknowledging significant improvements.
Hussein also underscored the importance of strengthening security cooperation and intelligence sharing between Iraq and the United States in the fight against terrorism, praising Washington’s role in leading the international coalition against ISIS.
On developments in Syria, the Iraqi foreign minister called for a comprehensive political process that respects the rights of all Syrian communities and contributes to regional stability, stressing that stability in Syria directly impacts Iraq’s security. He also warned of the ongoing threat posed by various armed groups along Iraq’s borders.
