Trade Minister Atheer al-Ghurairy, and accompanying delegation arrived at Damascus International Airport on Monday to participate in meetings of 11th session of the Syrian-Iraqi Joint Committee.
Speaking to the journalists after receiving the Iraqi minister at the airport, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad Samer al-Khalil underlined the importance of bilateral relations binding the two countries in various fields.
Al-Khalil pointed out to the distinguished commercial relations, which are reflected in the volume of trade exchange between both countries.
Al-Khalil noted that the neighboring location of the two countries support the import and export costs to be minimal, and thus the possibility of increasing the volume of trade exchange at higher levels.
Al-Khalil pointed out that these meetings are an important stage for dialogue between technicians of both sides to lay the foundations for developing joint cooperation and evaluate what has been accomplished in the 10th session of the committee held in Baghdad.
Al-Ghurairy, in turn, the meeting will contribute to strengthening the Syrian-Iraqi economic relations and opening the Iraqi markets for the Syrian products in addition to cooperation in organizing exhibitions in both countries.
Al-Ghurairy added the committee’s meetings will include signing memorandums of understanding in various sectors and talks for cooperation in health, trade, education, economy ,investments fields for the benefit of the two peoples.
The meetings of the Syrian-Iraqi Joint Committee will be held over two days at Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.
