Islamic Summit Conference Commends Qatar’s Efforts to Achieve Development, Establish Global Peace

The final communique of the 15th Islamic Summit Conference of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation noted the efforts of the State of Qatar in the humanitarian, legal, and economic fields aimed at maintaining international peace and security and supporting the development process, as well as its permanent cooperation with the United Nations. In this context, the communique welcomed the inauguration of the United Nations House in the State of Qatar, which serves as a center for international work in the region. The final communique of the Islamic Summit Conference, held in Banjul, Gambia, from May 4 - 5, highlighted Qatar's efforts in the Afghan issue, as it hosted the 2nd meeting of Special Envoys on Afghanistan under the auspices of the United Nations and with the attendance of the UN Secretary-General, along with its role in coordinating the international efforts in Afghanistan and facilitating the dialogue between the United Nations, concerned countries, and the Afghan caretaker go vernment to ensure compliance with the Doha Agreement to establish international peace and security in the region. The communique also welcomed the State of Qatar's hosting of the 2nd meeting of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies in the OIC Member States in Nove. 26 - 27, 2024, in Doha, in addition to Qatar's joining Sudan's funding countries with medical and health supplies when the crisis broke in April 2023. The communique also praised the State of Qatar's hosting of the meetings of the 11th session of the Conference of the States Parties (COSP) to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, scheduled for 2025. The communique noted the State of Qatar's success in hosting the 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5) in March 2023 under the theme "From Potential to Prosperity," praising the outcomes of the conference, especially regarding the Doha Program of Action for the LDCs, urging the parties to work together toward achieving the Doha Program of Action. The I slamic Summit Conference condemned in the strongest terms the crimes of genocide committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the opening of humanitarian corridors through all possible ways to deliver urgent aid to the Gaza Strip.
