Israel Conducts Airstrikes in Southern Lebanon

Doha: Israel launched three airstrikes on areas in southern Lebanon today.

According to Qatar News Agency, Israeli warplanes targeted the towns of Al-Aishiyeh, Mahalla Al-Mahmoudiya, Al-Jarmaq, and the Jezzine district in southern Lebanon. The report did not mention any casualties resulting from the airstrikes.

The agency further reported that Israeli drones were seen flying intensively and at low altitudes over the villages of Al-Zahrani in southern Lebanon, extending their reach over Beirut’s skies and into the southern suburbs.

The airstrikes come despite a ceasefire agreement in southern Lebanon, which went into effect on November 27, 2024. The agreement called for the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from border villages and towns in southern Lebanon within 60 days. The Lebanese government later extended the deadline until February 18, yet the Israeli army has remained at five points and continued its activities in the area.
