Bethlehem - Ma'an - The Israeli army held Iran responsible for the escalation of events in the West Bank recently. An Israeli military source said in press statements, "Recently, the West Bank has witnessed a significant escalation in activities and operations, which bear clear fingerprints of Iranian interference. Security reports indicate that these attacks are funded and directed by Iran, which highlights the growing threat posed by Iran in this region." He added, "Since yesterday, seven Palestinians have been killed in clashes with the army in the West Bank. This number reflects the seriousness of the threat facing the region, as the army launched a military operation with the aim of eliminating what it described as "terrorist hotbeds," according to him. He said that military officials confirm that the operation will continue as long as it takes to achieve its security objectives, which means that we may witness confrontations for several more days, and perhaps for a longer period if necessary. "This operation is not a new type, but rather part of ongoing efforts to combat terror in the West Bank. The main goal of this campaign is to eliminate threats and ensure freedom of movement in the area for residents. It must be emphasized that this operation is not connected to other arenas, but rather focuses solely on combating terror within the West Bank," he added. "It is clear from the available information that in recent years Iran has designated the West Bank as a main arena for its activities. Iran has begun to pump huge resources into the region, exploiting several Shiite routes extending between Iran and Lebanon. These Iranian investments have been manifested in supporting and arming cells with dangerous weapons and explosive materials, including explosive devices made from gas cylinders," he said. He said the army had seized "large quantities of weapons and explosive devices in recent weeks, a complex operation that requires continuous efforts. Reports indicate that the explosive devices manufactured by the cells with Iranian financing and guidance can cause massive destruction, especially those made from gas cylinders that have been prepared in a way that makes them capable of causing devastating explosions." He said, "The Iranians are not content with supporting operations in the West Bank through weapons and funding only, but they also contribute to directing terrorist attacks through advanced digital means, and providing direct financial support to these cells. Although there are no precise figures, estimates indicate that Iranian funding for operations in the region amounts to millions of dollars." Source: Maan News Agency
