Israeli Forces Escalate Attacks on Lebanon

Doha: Israeli forces continue their violations of the ceasefire agreement signed with the Lebanese government in late November last year. According to Lebanese National News Agency, an armored unit of occupation forces infiltrated the town of Aitaroun in southern Lebanon today. A bulldozer was deployed to block several roads and build earthen barricades within the town.

The occupation forces also threw stun grenades and conducted sweeps using medium-caliber machine guns in various neighborhoods of the town. For the second day in a row, Israeli forces have maintained their incursions into areas of Al Mafilha and Ras Al Dhahr, west of the town of Meis Al Jabal in southern Lebanon.

The ceasefire, which came into effect on November 27, requires Israeli forces to withdraw from villages and towns they occupied in southern Lebanon within 60 days of the agreement’s implementation.
