Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni discussed today with her Palestinian counterpart Mohammed Mustafa efforts to achieve a ceasefire in and provide relief to Gaza. During the meeting, Mustafa briefed his Italian counterpart on the latest developments in Palestine and the Israeli occupation's ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, in addition to the continuous Israeli violations and settler terrorism in the West Bank, as well as the unprecedented escalation of settlement activities, which pose a threat to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. The Palestinian Prime Minister stressed that the priority now is to end the genocidal war in Gaza, restore basic services to meet the humanitarian needs in the Strip, and release the withheld Palestinian clearance funds. In turn, Meloni affirmed her country's support for the two-state solution and readiness to work together, especially during her country's presidency of the G7 Group, to achieve a two-state solution.
