Job Growth in S. Korea Falls Below 100,000 for First Time in 4 Months.

South Korea: South Korea added fewer than 100,000 jobs for the first time in four months, data from Korean Statistics showed on Wednesday. The number of employed people aged 15 years and older came to 28.85 million as of end-October, up 83,000 from a year earlier, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported. According to Qatar News Agency, this is the first time the monthly job gain has fallen below 100,000 in 4 months. In July, monthly job additions exceeded 100,000 for the first time in three months, reaching 172,000. This was followed by increases of 123,000 new jobs in August and 144,000 in September. The slower job growth in October was mainly due to job losses in sectors like wholesale and retail, as well as construction, despite gains in health care, education, and science and technology.
