Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi held separate telephone talks on Monday with Foreign Minister of Lebanon Abdullah Bou Habib, Foreign Minister of Spain Jose Albares, Foreign Minister of Norway Espen Barth Eide; and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of United Kingdom David Lammy. The Jordanian Foreign Minister discussed with his counterparts the dangerous regional escalation and the ramifications of the assassination of Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) political chief Ismail Haniyeh. Safadi said that Israel's immediate cessation of its aggression on Gaza and its violations of international law would be the first step to de-escalate the tension that is threatening regional and international peace and security. The Jordanian Foreign Minister warned of the danger of continued regional escalation, adding that the security of the region would remain threatened unless Israel is forced to stop the war on Gaza, its violation of the rights of the Palestinian people and its flagrant violati ons of international law. Safadi stressed Jordan's support for Lebanon, its stability, sovereignty and the safety of its citizens and institutions, adding that the Kingdom rejects Israeli aggression against it.
