Paris: King Abdullah II of Jordan and French President Emmanuel Macron have jointly called for an immediate cessation of Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and urged a return to the full implementation of the ceasefire agreement.
According to Qatar News Agency, during a press conference in Paris, King Abdullah II condemned Israel’s renewed assaults on Gaza, describing them as a perilous escalation that exacerbates the already dire humanitarian conditions in the region. He appealed to the international community to enhance collective efforts to reinstate the ceasefire and fulfill all its phases, cautioning that any displacement of Palestinians from Gaza and the West Bank could further destabilize the area.
King Abdullah II underscored his opposition to any attempts to displace Palestinians, reaffirming that a two-state solution remains the sole viable path to achieving peace between Palestine and Israel.
French President Emmanuel Macron characterized the renewed Israeli airstrikes on Gaza as a significant regression. He stressed the necessity for an immediate end to hostilities and a resumption of negotiations, ideally facilitated by American mediation. Macron advocated for a lasting cessation of violence and the liberation of all hostages in Gaza, asserting that a military solution by Israel is not feasible.
President Macron emphasized the importance of a political resolution, highlighting an Arab-proposed plan for Gaza’s reconstruction. He noted that the establishment of a Palestinian state is essential for regional stability.
