Doha: April 30 - The Cultural Village Foundation-Katara held a ceremony today to crown the winners of the fourth edition of Al Nahma Musical,"Naham Al Khaleej" at the conclusion of the event. General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti crowned the sea shanty artist Ahmed Mishal Al-Borshid from Bahrain who was ranked first and won the title of "Naham Al Khaleej" 2024 and awarded a prize worth QR100,000, with the artist Ali Al Sabhati from Saudi Arabia being ranked second and received QR70,000. Additionally, the artist Ali bin Hussein Abdul Hamid from Kuwait was ranked third received QR30,000, while Sultan Omar Al Kuwari received the Jury encouragement prize. Members of the jury committee lauded the high art levels of the participating sea shanty artists, noting their incredible song voices and wonderful skills performed which were strongly associated with the inveterate maritime patrimony and were the major reasons behind this successful and nurtured edition of the sea shanty. They praised the role of Katara in launching pioneering initiatives that primarily aim to preserve sea shanty, revive the legacy of "Naham Al Khaleej" and help children, young people and the generations internalize this art. For their part, the sea shanty artists participating in this edition expressed their happiness for the good reputation and the global privilege of this award, affirming that attracting young artists from various territories of the region will help maintain the art legacy.
