King Hamad Global Centre, Nazarbayev Centre discuss cooperation

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, held a meeting with Sarsenbayev Bulat Sergazievich, Chairman of the N. Nazarbayev Centre for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilisation Dialogue, on the sidelines of the 21st Session of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held here.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed affirmed the depth of the Bahraini-Kazakh relations, indicating that both countries are keen to promote the values and principles of tolerance and coexistence in the world, and to provide room for dialogue and rapprochement among various religions and cultures.

He underlined the importance of developing constructive cooperation between the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence and the N. Nazarbayev Centre for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue.

This will achieve the goals of the Declaration of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, as well as establish cognitive integration, and religious tolerance, in addition to spreading intellectual enlightenment, in a way that contributes to supporting global peace and security, and achieving growth and prosperity for all, he said.

The Board of Trustees Chairman of the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence stressed the need to coordinate joint efforts related to increasing awareness of rapprochement, respecting cultural differences and diversity, instilling spiritual and moral values among young people, as well as combating misconceptions and ideas, especially the issue of Islamophobia, in addition to taking the necessary measures to confront intolerance, racism and hatred.

Dr. Shaikh Abdulla bin Ahmed highlighted the positive role played by the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence, as a global institution for defending human values without discrimination, and demonstrating the essence of the principles of moderation and human fraternity, noting that the centre reflects His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s enlightened vision regarding the protection of religious freedoms and the dissemination of the values of tolerance and moderation, towards a more peaceful, secure and prosperous world.

Sarsenbayev Bulat Sergazievich appreciated the qualitative initiatives launched by the Kingdom of Bahrain as a modern and advanced country in the field of dialogue and rapprochement among religions and cultures, adding that Bahrain presents a pioneering global model for tolerance and human fraternity.

He expressed readiness to open up new horizons of cooperation between the King Hamad Global Centre for Peaceful Coexistence and the N. Nazarbayev Centre for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue.

The two sides discussed ways to enhance the partnership between the two institutions by exchanging expertise and experiences, launching innovative programmes and projects, and developing endeavours aimed at consolidating the culture of peace and coexistence, in a way that would contribute to achieving common goals.
