The Minister of Health in the Kurdistan Region, Saman Al-Barzanji, announced today, Wednesday, the recording of the first three cases of cholera and hemorrhagic fever in the year 2024. Al-Barzanji confirmed in a joint press conference held with Bekard Talabani, the region's Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, regarding the death of large numbers of seagulls in Dokan Lake in Sulaymaniyah: The first case of cholera was recorded in the Kurdistan region during the current year, in addition to two cases of hemorrhagic fever. He pointed out that about 50 cases of hemorrhagic fever were recorded throughout the regions and cities of Iraq, of whom 8 patients died, while the Kurdistan region recorded two cases, one of whom died, noting that hospitals and medical centers in the region are taking the necessary health measures to reduce the incidence of these two diseases.
