Jameel bin Mohammed Ali Humaidan, Labour Minister, underlined the pivotal role of Bahraini youth in development policies pursued by Bahrain led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

The minister said those policies empowered Bahraini youth and gave them more quality opportunities in the labour market to enhance their role in the comprehensive development process.

Youth is the main pillar in the comprehensive development process, and we are betting on them to continue building and preserving national gains and achievements, the minister said.

This came during an open discussion with the labour minister within the second phase of the "The Future Bet" programme, which is organised by the Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour.

Informing Bahraini youth about development paths, government policies, and strategies is crucial for sustaining growth in the labour market and utilising their energies and skills, he said.

The minister showcased the efforts to further develop the labour market and create the proper environment for Bahraini youth as well as the efforts towards attracting more investments that generate more promising job opportunities for citizens.

The Labor Ministry, LMRA, and Tamkeen are collaborating to enable and integrate citizens in private sector establishments, in line with the Government Plan 2023-2026 and the Bahrain Economic Recovery Plan 2021-2024 which includes five Initiatives including creating job opportunities, training 10,000 job seekers, and implementing the National Labour Market Plan 2023-2026, the minister said.

The minister highlighted the free training programmes and support for the wages of the national workforce, as well as strengthening social protection for job seekers during the unemployment period, through the unemployment insurance system implemented by the ministry in cooperation with Tamkeen to accelerate the pace of employment and qualify citizens for their integration into the labor market.

Humaidan urged Bahraini youth to choose university majors required in the labour market, pointing out that all these services are provided by the ministry through its website, adding that the ministry took necessary measures to support those with majors that face difficulty in employment.

The Future Bet programme consists of training courses, workshops, panel discussions, and creative proposals and initiatives. The first phase focused on politics, economics, human rights values, leadership, and media skills for youth development. The second phase involved panel discussions with ministers and officials. The third stage focuses on raising political awareness through creative proposals and initiatives.
