Beirut: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun discussed during a phone call today with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron the recent developments in south Lebanon, the efforts exerted to control the escalation and find appropriate solutions that ensure the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, and the measures to be adopted to avert future tensions.
According to Qatar News Agency, during the call, Aoun stressed the need to oblige the Israeli entity to implement the terms of the ceasefire agreement in order to preserve stability in the south, and to stop successive violations, especially the destruction of villages adjacent to the southern border, and the bulldozing of land, which will hinder the return of people to their areas.
For his part, the French President said that he is conducting several contacts in order to maintain the ceasefire and complete the implementation of the agreement.
The ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and the Israeli entity entered into force on the 27th of last November, provided that the Israeli forces withdraw from the villages and towns in which they penetrated southern Lebanon within sixty days from the date of the truce.
