Tripoli: The Libyan authorities announced on Tuesday the restoration of calm in Tripoli, following heavy overnight clashes between armed groups that left six people dead.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Emergency Medicine and Support Center (EMSC) confirmed that its teams had retrieved six bodies from the sites of the confrontations, which erupted on Monday in the Abu Salim area amid mounting security tensions, prompting the declaration of a state of emergency and a public alert.
Consequently, the Ministry of Health in Tripoli enjoined all hospitals and medical centers to raise their preparedness to the highest level in anticipation of a potential aggravation of the situation.
On Monday evening, Tripoli witnessed sporadic clashes across several districts following the killing of the Head of the Stability Support Apparatus (SSA), Abdel Ghani Al Kikli, under circumstances that remain unclear.
Early on Tuesday, the Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity (GNU) announced the successful conclusion of the security operation, the stabilization of the capital, and the resumption of flights at Mitiga International Airport.
