Doha: The main rounds of the first edition of the Qatar Tennis Federation Open Championship began Tuesday, organized by the Qatar Tennis Federation at the Khalifa International Tennis Complex. The tournament, set to run for a week, features 32 players in the singles competitions and 16 teams in the doubles category, with a total prize pool of $15,000.
According to Qatar News Agency, the organizing committee announced that Qatari player Ghanem Al Sulaiti has received a wild card to participate in the main draw. The Qatar Tennis Federation has also extended invitations to several Arab players, reflecting its ongoing collaboration with fellow Arab tennis federations.
Executive Director of the Qatar Tennis Federation and Tournament Director, Saad Al Mohannadi, emphasized that the inaugural Open Championship offers a valuable opportunity to attract talented players from around the world. He pointed out that the tournament is crucial for players, particularly rising stars, who aim to boost their professional careers. The event allows them to improve their global rankings and positions them for greater international participation in the future.
