The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) won on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, the "Champions" award of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2022, during the awarding ceremony held on the sidelines of the WSIS Forum currently held at the headquarters of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Geneva, Switzerland. That was under the title "Information and Communication Technologies for Prosperity, Inclusion, and Flexibility."
MCIT won the award for the category "Building Confidence and Security in the Use of Information and Communication Technology" for its "SafeSpace" platform project, which aims at instilling a culture of security and digital safety. The MCIT project outperformed five other projects that applied for competing to win the award for this category.
During the WSIS 2022 awarding ceremony, Ms. Mashael Ali Al Hammadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Information Technology Affairs at MCIT, and Head of the State of Qatar's delegation participating in the WSIS Forum, received the "Champions" award, which aims at evaluating projects and activities that use the power of information and communication technology (ICT) to push forward sustainable development.
Commenting on the winning of this award, Ms. Mashael Al Hammadi said: "Winning this prestigious award is a testament to the extent of investment and efforts made by the Ministry in the field of digital transformation in an innovative and secure environment providing sustainable solutions."
