MECC Releases Q3 2025 Report Highlighting Environmental Sector Achievements

Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) issued a report on the environmental sector’s achievements in the third quarter of 2025.

According to Qatar News Agency, the report revealed significant progress in environmental performance indicators and increased regulatory, awareness, and organizational efforts, all aimed at achieving environmental sustainability in alignment with the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The report indicated that different departments within the environmental sector completed 1,306 inspection and field visits, conducted 6,319 customs inspections, released 6,202 customs declarations, issued 4,561 environmental permits and licenses, analyzed 4,523 laboratory samples, and prepared 932 reports, studies, and audits.

During the third quarter, the sector organized 30 awareness events, responded to 26 environmental alerts, issued 69 warnings and corrective measures, and welcomed 1,692 visitors.

According to the report, the Environmental Monitoring and Inspection Department conducted 449 inspection and field visits, collected 1,308 emergency water and sediment samples, executed 735 seawater quality controls, and performed 798 analyses under the Marine Environment Monitoring Programme. It also collected 3,402 samples under the Discharge Monitoring Programme, resulting in 4,171 total analyses for the quarter. The department prepared 454 studies, reports, and audits, facilitated 15 awareness events, issued 82 permits and licenses, and implemented 15 warnings and corrective measures.

In terms of the Radiation Protection Department, it carried out 191 inspections and field visits, issued 507 permits and licenses, analyzed 337 laboratory samples, released 3,727 customs declarations post-inspection, organized 33 workshops, issued 34 warnings and corrective measures, addressed 5 environmental alerts, and hosted 120 visitors.

The Chemicals and Hazardous Waste Department performed 297 inspections and field visits, issued 3,073 permits and licenses, conducted 2,592 customs inspections, released 2,475 customs declarations, organized 8 awareness events, analyzed 15 laboratory samples, and issued 20 warnings and corrective measures.

Regarding the Environmental Assessment and Permits Department, activities included 397 technical meetings, 369 inspection and field visits, 468 reports and environmental audits, the issuance of 899 environmental permits and licenses, and service provision to 1,294 visitors.

Overall, the report exemplifies the MECC’s commitment to documenting and monitoring national environmental performance indicators, enhancing transparency, regulatory and developmental effectiveness, and supporting the nation’s journey toward sustainable environmental development that conserves natural resources for future generations.
