Ramallah - Ma'an - The Palestinian Medical Relief Society warned on Saturday of the deteriorating health conditions in the Gaza Strip. The association warned of the spread of infectious diseases, polio and skin diseases, resulting from the lack of personal hygiene, especially among the displaced people in the tents, the great scarcity of water suitable for human use, the difficulty of obtaining it and the lack of various cleaning materials coinciding with the high temperature, humidity and pollution resulting from the widespread sewage in the streets and roads and among the tents of the displaced. The Palestinian Medical Relief called on international institutions to quickly intervene to find the best solutions to address these worsening crises and to expedite the introduction of appropriate vaccines to prevent the spread of polio, as well as the introduction of all cleaning materials and their rapid delivery to citizens, especially the displaced, and the introduction of sufficient quantities of fuel, suppl ies and tools necessary to repair and re-operate destroyed wells and desalination plants, as well as sewage treatment networks and plants. The Palestinian Medical Relief considered the occupation's deliberate imposition of its siege on Gaza and depriving the people of the Strip of their most basic rights as a continuation of the cycles of the war of extermination that has been ongoing for ten months; which now requires international bodies to assume their responsibilities towards what is happening in Gaza and to expedite the rescue of the lives of innocent citizens, especially children and women who are most exposed to risks at various levels.
