Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard has hailed the strong bilateral relations with the United Arab Emirates across all fields.
In a press statement marking his visit to the UAE where he will participate in the World Government Summit in Dubai on March 29-30, the top diplomat said that the Emirates is the main trading partner of Mexico in the Arab world and the only Middle East nation that operates direct flights to Mexico.
There are promising opportunities for developing relations between the two countries, especially at the trade and investment level, he explained.
"Diplomatic relations between the UAE and Mexico started about 46 years ago," he said, expressing hope that his visit to the UAE would strengthen the relations between the two friendly countries in various sectors, including trade, food, technology, investment and tourism.
The UAE and Mexico are now members of the United Nations Security Council, which provides an opportunity for the two nations to work closely together for establishing international peace and security, the minister added.
