Cairo, Caretaker Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, held on an open dialogue with a group of Egyptian media professionals, thinkers and writers at the Syrian Embassy in Cairo. During the meeting, a number of issues related to Syria and the circumstances it faces were discussed, in addition to its stances on developments in the region, most notably the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. The meeting also addressed Israeli attacks, counter-terrorism, and their impact on security and stability in the region. Mikdad affirmed Syria's condemnation of the brutal war waged by Israeli occupation entity against Palestinian people, and the crimes of genocide it commits against them, and he noted that this must be brought to an end. The dialogue dealt with the development of Syria's relations with Arab countries, especially with Egypt, in light of Syria's return to its seat in the Arab League. Minister Mikdad provided explanations and answers to questions posed by media professionals an d intellectuals covering a range of topics, including facilitating the return of Syrian refugees and displaced persons, and improve the humanitarian and living conditions of Syrians. The dialogue touched on aspects of cooperation with UN and international organizations and the unilateral coercive measures imposed by Western countries on the Syrian people.
