Minister of Justice Khaled Shawani confirmed: “The Iraqi government has allocated a large area of its program to develop the justice system and the judiciary.”
Shawani said in a speech after assuming the presidency of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice at its thirty-ninth session: “The government has taken great steps in implementing its international obligations. It is a party to eight international agreements and is on its way to joining the ninth.”
He added: "Iraq has regained its Arab status after eliminating terrorism, and the government has adopted a balanced foreign policy of openness to the international community."
He continued: “Our region suffers from serious economic, social and security challenges, such as corruption, money smuggling and drug trafficking.”
