Rabat: The Ministry of Culture, represented by its department of culture and arts, took part in a significant meeting of the Permanent Committee for Arab Culture under the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO). The meeting, held in Rabat, Morocco, was a preparatory step for the upcoming 24th Arab Culture Ministers Conference.
According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting addressed several critical issues, with a primary focus on leveraging cultural and creative industries as a strategic pathway to boost development across the Arab world. Participants explored how these industries could serve as catalysts for economic growth and cultural enrichment.
The agenda also included discussions on advancing digitization and modern technologies within the cultural sector. Participants emphasized the need to enhance the common Arab cultural market and proposed measures to ease the movement of writers, intellectuals, and artists among member states.
Additionally, the attendees reviewed strategies to support the transfer of cultural industries across Arab countries. The dialogue touched on the development of cultural policies aimed at strengthening Arab cooperation in cultural affairs.
A notable moment during the meeting was the transfer of the presidency for the current session from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Kingdom of Morocco, marking Morocco’s leadership in guiding the efforts of this session.
This gathering forms part of a broader initiative to bolster Arab cultural efforts and devise initiatives that will elevate the visibility and influence of Arab culture on both regional and international stages.
