The Ministry of Municipality, represented by the Director of Food Security Department, Dr. Masoud Jarallah Al-Marri, participated in the Conference for Water and Food Security in Dry Areas (WFSDA) yesterday (Monday). The conference was held by Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) in cooperation with the Abdullah Bin Hamad Al-Attiyah International Foundation for Energy and Sustainable Development.
Dr. Al-Marri tackled food security and its significance to the State of Qatar and its National Vision 2030. He explained the developments achieved in local food security during the past few years.
The conference was participated in by AGRICO Co. and Inbat Holding Company. Both are Qatari companies operate in agricultural production. The participants discussed the importance of agriculture in the environment sustainability, reliance on sustainable energy in agriculture, matters related to fresh water shortage, the role of National Food Security Strategy in preserving fresh water resources within the State of Qatar, and means of ensuring the sustainability of food and water through regional and international cooperation.
