Ministry of Municipality Unveils Innovative Vessel ‘Baladiya: 245’ to Enhance Marine Cleanliness

Doha: The Ministry of Municipality launched the new vessel “Baladiya: 245” at Doha Port, marking a significant enhancement to the General Cleaning Department’s fleet under the Public Services Affairs Sector. The vessel is designed to perform multiple functions, primarily focusing on cleaning waste and oils from the sea surface.

According to Qatar News Agency, “Baladiya: 245” is equipped with front arms that collect floating waste on the sea surface. This waste is then transferred via an automatic belt to a storage box situated in the middle of the boat. This innovative design eliminates the need for manual labor, thereby reducing time and effort in the cleaning process.

Training for operating the vessel has been provided by the Mechanical Equipment Department and the supplier company, ensuring that drivers can use the boat effectively and optimally. Saad Issa Al Badr, Head of the Beaches and Islands Section at the Ministry’s General Cleaning Department, noted that the initiative to launch this sea cleaning machine arose from the challenges workers faced with manual cleaning methods. The new vessel aims to support workers’ efforts with modern, innovative technology and anticipates the introduction of smaller boats for better accessibility near ports.

The launch underscores the General Cleaning Department’s commitment to environmental protection and enhancing marine life quality. It represents a pivotal step toward achieving the Public Services Affairs Sector’s goals of offering outstanding, eco-friendly cleaning services and striving for excellence, leadership, and comprehensive service development.
