The Head of the Union of Arab Journalists and Head of the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate, Moayad Al-Lami, praised the anniversary of World Press Freedom Day. Al-Lami wrote, in a tweet, 'As we celebrate World Press Freedom Day, we remember the efforts of the dear members of the generous Iraqi journalistic family in building a democratic Iraqi state, and especially the martyrs of the Iraqi press from 2003 until now, who numbered more than 500 journalist martyrs at the hands of blind terrorism and security forces.' The occupation, including those who confronted the terrorist organization ISIS and conveyed the image of their blind darkness and contributed to conveying the courage and sacrifices of the brave Iraqi fighters from our military and security forces, the Popular Mobilization Forces and the Peshmerga, gave their lives in order to consolidate the concepts of freedom of opinion and expression and to defend Iraq. Al-Lami added, 'Just as we do not forget the martyrs of the press in Palestine, especially the martyrs of our beloved Gaza at the hands of the brutal occupation forces, we salute their pure souls and salute their honorable families, and our great support for them will continue in the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate and through the Union of Arab Journalists, which stood up for its people in Palestine, and it is a message to the world,' Stop the aggression and killing of civilians. Al-Lami continued, 'Greetings to all journalists around the world from their brothers in Iraq and the Arab countries. Our hearts are together. We will not forget any oppressed person everywhere. What is coming will be great in supporting the members of our Iraqi journalistic family in various fields of life.
