Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) reaffirmed its commitment to protecting biodiversity and preserving ecological balance on the occasion of the International Day for Biological Diversity. In a post on X, the ministry emphasized its ongoing efforts to protect native plants and curb the spread of invasive species, such as Al Ghawaif (Mesquite plant), known for its impact on vegetation and environmental balance.
According to Qatar News Agency, the ministry underlined that biodiversity serves as a cornerstone of ecological stability and sustainability. It highlighted the essential roles that forests, oceans, wildlife, and microorganisms play in safeguarding the environment and securing a better future for upcoming generations.
