Doha, HE Minister of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC), Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al-Thani, underscored the significance of the 6th international conference for entrepreneurship which is set to be organized by Qatar University (QU) under the motto: 'For Sustainability and Impact: Tackling Grand Challenges for a Sustainable Future'.
His Excellency said that the three-day event is one of the vital conferences in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), since it constitutes a platform for the convergence of a host of researchers and experts interested in entrepreneurship, innovation, and research cooperation.
In his remarks to Qatar News Agency , HE Minister of MoECC noted that the conference has special significance and value as it primarily sheds light on sustainability, indicating that its convention at the venue of International Horticultural Expo 2023 Doha is a tremendous addition to Qatar's unwavering efforts in such type of fields and critical sectors, pointing out that MoECC is among the strategic partners of Qatar University (QU), particularly in environment and sustainability, confirming that the two sides have numerous projects in this respect.
The conference adds numerous milestones to the Qatar National Vision 2030, specifically in entrepreneurship and Qatar's commitment will support and maintain development in a variety of sectors, the minister said.
Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Academic Excellence at QU and Chairman of the conference, Dr. Said Al Banna, said the event represents a special conference for sustainability that will have a positive impact on the community and grants QU and the scientific research a critical role in serving Qatar, the region, and the whole world in sustainability.
In remarks to QNA, Al Banna clarified that the conference would discuss 220 research papers submitted by more than 50 states, including 27% of papers from Qatar and 73% from abroad with the participation of speakers from 80 universities worldwide, pointing out that the first day is dedicated to industry and young researchers, while the second and third day are devoted to scientific papers.
He added that the event gives special attention to women and their trailblazing role, outlining that the conference includes a special forum for businesswomen and female entrepreneurs in Qatar with the dedication of one full day for PhD students, as well as young researchers in Qatar to further support their research skills.
He indicated that the conference is the largest of its kind in entrepreneurship in the Arab region, adding that in the second day of the conference the MENA Business Schools Alliance for Sustainability will be launched under the leadership of QU's College of business and Economics.
