Baghdad - The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that Moscow and Beijing intend to closely coordinate efforts regarding the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and the Chinese government's special envoy to the Middle East, Zhai Jun, expressed a common opinion on preventing escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
The Russian Foreign Ministry explained, "Following a meeting in Doha between Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and the Chinese government's special envoy to the Middle East, Zhai Jun, the continued focus of Moscow and Beijing on close coordination of efforts to reach a political settlement to this crisis and other crises in the region was confirmed and other crises in the Middle East and North Africa region within the framework of the United Nations Security Council and on other international platforms, including BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.”
The Ministry also stressed that the parties expressed a common opinion “in favor of an early cessation of actions, preventing escalation of the conflict, and resolving urgent humanitarian issues, including providing urgent assistance to the affected population and releasing hostages.”
It added: “During the conversation, a confidential exchange of views took place on the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, with a focus on the unprecedented deterioration of the situation in and around the Gaza Strip.”
