The Ministry of Transport (MOT) announced that Hamad Port received the last batch of 130 electric buses. This batch completes the supply of all 741 units, which will be fully operated by Mowasalat (Karwa) as part of public plans for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
This step will enhance Qatar's position as a leader in the field of mass transportation for clean energy, to be among the first countries in the world to have an integrated electric bus system, clearly demonstrating Qatar's commitment to clean energy solutions for transport in the world and supporting the direction of hosting an exceptional environmentally friendly World Cup and "carbon neutral".
It also comes within the framework of implementing the action plan of transformation to electric vehicles strategy, which was prepared by MOT in cooperation with the concerned authorities. With the completion of electric buses supply, this strategy will achieve a transformation of 25% of the 2022 World Cup bus fleet to electric buses.
