National Archives of Qatar Marks Arab Document Day

Doha: The National Archives of Qatar held an event on Thursday to mark the Arab Document Day with the attendance and hosting of a group of educational staff from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE). This comes within the framework of the ongoing cooperation activities between the National Archives of Qatar and the MOEHE. The National Archives of Qatar organized an introductory workshop on the importance of preserving the documentary heritage and the importance of documents. The workshop was presented by Al Ghalia Al Mansouri, a researcher at the National Archives of Qatar. In this context, Acting Director of the Public Relations and Communication Department at the National Archives of Qatar Noura Al Qubaisi told Qatar News Agency that the National Archives of Qatar celebrates Arab Document Day, believing that the document is the basis of the memory of peoples and nations. On this day, the National Archives of Qatar focuses on the vital role of documents in recording history and strengthe ning national identity. She stressed that understanding history represents the first step to shaping the future. She pointed out that educational cadres from the MOEHE were received, due to their pioneering role in the educational field, which helps in enhancing the concept of documentation and instilling it in the students. She added that the visit of the educational cadres to the National Archives of Qatar included holding an awareness workshop on the importance of preserving the documentary heritage, in addition to organizing a tour of the National Archives of Qatar's exhibition (Journey of Knowledge) to learn about and view what the exhibition includes, which deals with various documents that shaped our history and our ancient heritage, in addition to learning about the mission and goals of the National Archives of Qatar. Al Qubaisi indicated that organizing the workshop comes within several projects and initiatives with the MOEHE. She pointed out the importance of preserving the documentary heritage, as history is a legacy that must be preserved, and that the legacy of the ancestors is the responsibility of the grandchildren to preserve the legacy of the State of Qatar. The National Archives of Qatar is keen to strengthen its partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education with the aim of educating the younger generations about the importance of preserving documentary heritage and actively participating in protecting historical documents and ensuring their continuity for future generations. On Arab Document Day, the National Archives of Qatar highlighted the importance of documents and their role in documenting history and legacy for future generations to inherit and use in achieving their accomplishments, as history is the first step in shaping the future. The joint cooperation between the National Archives of Qatar and the MOEHE contributes to consolidating the values of citizenship and belonging among the younger generations by introducing the role and importance of the Qatar Nationa l Archives in educational curricula and school activities, which contributes to the transmission of this heritage across generations and ensures its continuity.
