Manama, The national campaign to protect children from online exploitation and blackmail was launched today. The launch of the national campaign was attended by Dr. Ali bin Fadl Al Buainain, the Attorney General; Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council and President of the Court of Cassation; Osama bin Ahmed Khalaf Al Asfoor, Minister of Social Development; Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education; Rawan Najeeb Tawfiqi, the Minister of Youth Affairs, and Lieutenant General Tariq bin Hasan Al Hasan, the Chief of Public Security. The national campaign is organised by the Public Prosecution, Interior Ministry, Social Development Ministry, Education Ministry, Justice and Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry, and Information Ministry. The campaign partners include the General Secretariat of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC), Youth Affairs Ministry, Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA), National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Tele communication Regulatory Authority (TRA), Judicial and Legal Studies Institute (JLSI), National Communication Centre (NCC). The national campaign aims to raise awareness on online exploitation and blackmail risks for children. It will educate children, parents, and caretakers on digital safety strategies, including recognising threats, protecting personal information, and using electronic protection applications. Concerned entities will collaborate within the framework of the campaign to implement protective measures and empower safe internet use.
