Manama, The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) welcomed Edict (21) of 2024, issued by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, granting the National Institute for Human Rights (NIHR) observer status in a number of national committees, based on the request of NIHR. These national committees are the National Commission for Childhood, the High Committee for the Care of People with Disabilities, the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, the National Committee to Combat Trafficking in Persons, and the National Committee for Elderly. The NIHR emphasised the importance of this step in developing the institute's efforts and work mechanisms to perform its mandate. The institute expressed its appreciation for the government's approval of expanding the scope of its monitoring tasks as an independent and neutral institution. Ali Ahmed Al Derazi, President of NIHR, commended the executive authority's support of the institution in performing it s duties. He affirmed the institution's commitment to keep track of Bahrain's compliance with human rights-related international agreements and treaties. Source: Bahrain News Agency
