South waziristan: The Pakistani army announced the thwarting of an attempted suicide attack targeting a military site in South Waziristan.
According to Qatar News Agency, security sources said an armed group carried out the attack using a car bomb, but the swift response by Pakistani forces destroyed the vehicle before it reached its target, leaving seven civilians injured in the Azam Warsak area.
The timely intervention not only helped limit the scale of the damage by targeting the suicide bomber at a distance from the site, but also resulted in the attacker's death. Civilians injured in the attack were taken to hospital.
Pakistani forces have been conducting operations for years to eliminate armed groups entrenched in mountainous areas, which periodically carry out attacks against civilians and security personnel.
