Paris Exhibition Showcases Gaza’s 5,000-Year Heritage Amid Threats to Cultural Sites

Paris: The Arab World Institute in Paris has announced the launch of an exhibition titled “Treasures Rescued from Gaza,” which will run from April 3 to November 2, 2025. The exhibition celebrates Palestinian and Eastern heritage, particularly in regions affected by conflicts and crises.

According to Qatar News Agency, the exhibit features 130 archaeological pieces from Gaza’s rich history, including a stunning Byzantine mosaic from Abu Barqa. This highlights Gaza’s role as a vital crossroads since ancient times. The exhibition also presents rare artifacts from Franco-Palestinian excavations initiated in 1995, along with items from the private collection of Jawdat Khoudary, displayed for the first time in France.

A dedicated section of “Treasures Rescued from Gaza” will address the preservation of heritage during wartime. It features studies on Gaza’s current cultural landscape, an inventory of archaeological discoveries, and rare photographs from the early 20th century. The Gaza exhibition, spanning thousands of years, explores the importance of the city’s heritage, deeply rooted in memory and history, and presents a cultural and spiritual prize to the peoples of the East in the face of contemporary challenges.

The exhibition is organized in collaboration with Aver de Royont Association, the Museum of Art and History in Geneva, the Palestinian Authority, and is supported by the Aliph Foundation.
