Geneva, Bahrain's parliamentary group, represented by Hala Ramzi Fayez, Shura Council member, and MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan, participated in a workshop organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and World Health Organisation (WHO) on 'Women's, Children's, and Adolescent's Health', as part of the 149th IPU General Assembly in Geneva. The group noted the key role of legislative bodies in shaping policies and enacting laws to improve public health and ensure access to reproductive health services. Hala Ramzi Fayez highlighted the importance of allocating sufficient parliamentary budgets to support sexual and reproductive health programmes, noting the economic and social benefits. She emphasised the role of parliaments in promoting education and awareness around these issues to reduce stigma. On his part, MP Hassan Ibrahim Hassan called for enhancing parliamentary oversight of health policies to ensure transparency and effectiveness. He highlighted Bahrain's model of providing comprehensive healthcare, pa rticularly for maternal and child health, through advanced policies and programmes ensuring healthcare for all.
