Moscow, Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that escalation of tension in the Middle East is in no one's interest. Sputnik quoted Peskov as saying to reporters Monday that We are extremely concerned about the escalation of tension in the region. Further escalation is in no one's interests. We call on all the countries in the region to exercise restraint and we are in favor of political settlement. The Kremlin spokesman's statements came when asked to comment on the situation in the Middle East after Iran 's military operation against the Israeli entity in the framework of exercising its right to self-defense under Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, which is recognized in international law. Regarding the import ban of aluminum, copper and nickel from Russia, Peskov stressed that any sanctions imposed by the West on Russia are a' double-edged sword' and will negatively affect the countries that impose them.
