PLO Approves New Role of Vice President in Executive Committee

Ramallah: The Palestinian Central Council has overwhelmingly approved the creation of the position of Vice President of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), President of the State of Palestine. This decision marks a significant development in the organizational structure of the PLO.

According to Qatar News Agency, the new role will be filled by a member of the Executive Committee, nominated by the Chairman and approved by the committee members. The Chairman holds the authority to assign duties, dismiss the Vice President, or accept their resignation.

In a session marked by broad consensus, 170 members present in the hall and participating via Zoom voted in favor of establishing the Vice President position. Only one member voted against the decision, and one abstained, highlighting the strong support for this organizational change.
