Qatar Calendar House Predicts March 30 as First Day of Eid al-Fitr 1446 AH

Doha: March 30, 2025 is expected to be the first day of Eid al-Fitr 1446 AH, the Qatar Calendar House announced Tuesday. A statement from the Qatar Calendar House indicated that this prediction is grounded in astronomical calculations performed by their team of specialists.

According to Qatar News Agency, the statement also clarified that the official announcement of the start date of Shawwal, which is the 10th lunar month in the Islamic calendar, remains the responsibility of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs’ Crescent Sighting Committee. This body will make the final determination based on the sighting of the crescent moon.

Qatar Calendar House’s Executive Director, Eng. Faisal Al Ansari, elaborated that the crescent moon marking the beginning of Shawwal is anticipated to be visible on the evening of Saturday, March 29. At that time, the moon will be born at 1:58 pm Doha local time, which corresponds to 10:58 am GMT. The sighting of this crescent moon will signal the end of Ramadan and the commencement of Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
