Doha: In cooperation with the Tamkeen Academy for Education Professions and Competencies, Qatar Chamber announced organizing a 'Gulf Family Businesses Forum' in Doha on Jan. 27, 2025, under th theme 'From Effectiveness to Sustainability.' The forum aims to explore new ways to develop family business concepts and link them to new ideas related to governance, transparency, and how to write family constitutions and sustainability for more effectiveness and longevity for future generations due to their significant contributions to the national economy of countries. The forum also seeks to end with recommendations for developing legislation and policies that support family business governance and strengthen relationships among family business owners. In this context, QC's Acting General Manager, Ali bu Sherbak Al Mansori and Chairman of Tamkeen Academy, Dr. Khamis bin Obaid Al Ajmi signed a strategic partnership agreement to enhance cooperation between the two parties. QC's Acting General Manager emphasized the chamber's strong commitment to enhancing the role of family businesses in the national economy. Al Mansori also said that the chamber fully recognizes the significance of family businesses in Qatar's economy, noting its eagerness to participate in organizing the event as a representative of all components of the Qatari private sector. Chairman of Tamkeen Academy expressed that Tamkeen Academy is keen to strengthen cooperation with QC in organizing this event, stressing the importance of governance in family businesses to ensure their protection and sustainability. Al Ajmi pointed out that the forum is the first of its kind focused on governance for Gulf family businesses, expressing hope that it will contribute to enhancing discussions, sharing best practices, and developing supportive policies and legislation to create a robust governance framework that drives long-term growth and stability for family businesses in the GCC.
