Doha: The Qatar Sports for All Federation has announced plans to organize the Ramadan Sports for All tournaments for women in Education City, in partnership with the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.
According to Qatar News Agency, a press conference was held at the Education City Stadium to unveil details of the four Ramadan tournaments, which will include football, volleyball, badminton, and running races for women aged 16 and above. The tournament system allows between 8 to 12 teams to participate in football, each comprising 6 starting players and 6 substitutes.
The volleyball competition will feature between 6 to 10 teams, with similar team compositions as football. Meanwhile, the badminton event will see participation from 2 players.
Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of Qatar Sports for All Federation, acknowledged the collaboration with Qatar Foundation, highlighting the privacy and safety the state-of-the-art facility offers for hosting sporting events. Al Dosari announced that registration for the tournaments is available through the Qatar Sports for All Federation app, with a deadline set for February 25.
Buthayna Al Khater, Engagement and Activation Specialist at Qatar Foundation, shared her enthusiasm about the partnership and emphasized the ongoing efforts to establish an academy for girls. The initiative aims to promote women's involvement in sports and raise awareness about the significance of physical activity. She also noted that the Ladies' Evening, initially held at Oxygen Park in 2018, attracted around 10,000 visitors before relocating to Education City Stadium in 2023.
